The Goddess Project (dance & fitness training log)

Sunday-Tuesday, February 12-14, 2012

*Sunday

Ballroom dance practice: 1 hour.

*Monday

Ballroom dance practice: 1 hour. Danced with a weight-training, resistance band stretched across my back, hands pressing each handle outward/forward with equal pressure. Yowza! My back muscles may never be the same! It really demonstrated much more fully than my teacher’s explanations and frequent reminders how often my arm tone/hand pressure varies dramatically, which is heck on one’s frame and pretty hard on one’s partner. I’m very glad teacher suggested this exercise and I intend to do it regularly to generate muscle memory of what my frame’s tone is supposed to be.

*Tuesday, Valentine’s Day  Teacher had to cancel my regular, two-hour dance lesson because he was ill with flu. Sad face.

Cardio/toning: 45 minutes. Brazil Butt Lift dvd by Beachbody. Covered the Basics section since I haven’t done this in so long and then did the 30-minute “Bum Bum” workout — yes, you read that right, glute fans, “bum bum” which the trainer, Leandro, pronounces “boom boom,” Brazilian slang for booty. This workout makes me sweat. Makes me realize that I have several hard weeks if not months before me to get back into top condition. I’ll get there! (And, boy, I also certainly felt aching in my shoulders and arms from the work I did yesterday, dancing for the better part of an hour with a resistance band to shape my frame.)

Cardio: 50 minutes. Matrix recumbent bike. 13.02 miles total. Rolling hills program. 45 minutes at Level 6 for 12.09 miles plus 5 minutes of cool down at Level 1 for .93 miles.

Stretching: 15 minutes.
