Thursday, December 30
On vacation in one of the food capitals of the US, wonderful New Orleans, Louisiana, aka NOLA. Not a lot of time for workouts, but need to fit in at least a bit.
*Yoga: 40 minutes. Ultimate power yoga DVD. Sections on power foundation and power restoration. Helped release everything cramped up by time on airplanes today.

*Ballroom lesson with M.S. 2 hours, Standard & Smooth. Getting back in the groove after a longish break for Christmas, and, unfortunately for my training but fortunately for my sanity, I’m about to go on a vacation to ring in NYE in NOLA. No more lessons or individual dance practices ‘til January 4.

The Goddess Project (dance & fitness training log)
Tuesday, December 27, 2011
*Ballroom dance practice: 1 hour and 40 minutes. Mostly American Smooth, with a bit of Standard Waltz. Working on getting body projected far enough over the foot, especially when doing changes of direction, when I tend to hold back my forward momentum and start redirecting my body too soon.
*Yoga: 20 minutes. Rodney Yee dvd, Ultimate Power Yoga. Section on Power...

The Goddess Project: dance and fitness training...
Starting tomorrow, my training log, “Diary of a Mad Dancer,” will evolve into a new log that will help me track my goals in dance and fitness for 2012. I expect I will still be training very hard in dance, as I love it and it’s like oxygen for my body and soul, but I doubt I will be able to compete as much. My teacher and pro-am partner will be having a baby in the spring with...

Fight the good fight! Celebrate and improve your own health. Help others who are enduring a battle for their very lives. Check out this site by the American Cancer Association. Many events listed from all over the country and a link for beginning runners. Ah, that’s me! I’ve cross-trained on the elliptical machine for quite a while, but I know that’s not the same as road running....

Figure?
Angels among us? We may meet at random people who may affect the course of our lives. I attended a holiday party hosted by dear friends tonight and met a woman who has been a personal trainer and competitive bodybuilder for about 20 years. She encouraged me to look into competing in the figure category (I am long and lean and cannot build bulk but can get very toned and cut). I am very competitive...

Some of you already know that this year I completed coursework and passed national exams to start a new career as a personal fitness trainer. Life had other plans for me in the following months, but I think it’s safe to say that the hardest changes and transitions have been navigated and I can get my work life back on track.
Dance and general fitness have given me so much joy and put me in...
